Education

Stanford University, Stanford, CA         09/13 – 06/18
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Depth study in Design Methodology GPA: 3.7/4.0

Relevant Coursework: Design Theory, Needfinding, and Kinematic Synthesis and Design of Mechanisms.

Design Projects

Depth project in Design Methodology sponsored by FutureWei, Stanford, CA         10/17 – 06/7
Collaborated with a team of six, three of which are students from the Hasso Plattner Institut in Potsdam, Germany to design a system that used Artificial Intelligence and enhances parents’ communication with their 3 to 5-year-old children in periods of transition between activities. Conducted Needfinding, user interviews, prototyping, product realization and user testing. Communicated and coordinated with an international team and managed the project progress and development.

Solar Panel Car Roof Rack: Senior Design Capstone Project sponsored by Porsche, Stanford, CA         04/17 – 06/17
Four teams of four worked towards designing, manufacturing and testing a removable roof rack system and solar panels that could normalize to the sun’s position and were integrated to the car’s battery. The design was specific to a Volkswagen e-Golf provided. Worked on designing, analyzing and manufacturing the roof rack: an aerodynamic housing for the solar panels and normalization system as well as a safe, secure and removable attachment to the car.

Emotional Faucet: Collaborative project with IRIS Design Lab, Stanford, CA         09/16 – 12/16
In a team of three using IRIS Design Lab’s ‘telepathic’ faucet. Designed behavior patterns for the faucet and tracked the user’s response to the faucet’s behavior in a survey. Demonstrated people’s tendencies to anthropomorphize behavior patterns and attribute an emotional state to the faucet for each given pattern. The perceived emotional reaction can be used to help teach a human user how to use the faucet sustainably.

Leadership and Mentoring

Course Assistant: Visual Thinking, Stanford University, Stanford, CA Instructor: John Edmark         03/18 – 06/18
Designed, developed and lead workshops on mechanism design, rapid prototyping and visualization with an emphasis on fluent and flexible idea production. Coached teams of 3-4 students in solving design problems, working with teams through stages of ideation, prototyping, testing and iteration.

Residential Counselor: Stanford Pre-Collegiate Institutes, Stanford University, Stanford, CA         06/17 – 08/17
Lead study sessions for Civil Engineering course with sixteen students. Assisted teaching the material and in the designing, brainstorming and manufacturing processes of the students’ projects emphasizing safety, creative thinking and prototyping.

Artistic Director and Member of Leadership Team: Stanford Improvisors (SImps)         06/16 – 06/18
Developed a format of improvised theater. Lead practice twice a week teaching and coaching the group of eighteen improvisers in the developed format in preparation for eight performances. Acted in performances of improvisational games and theatrical forms and taught workshops on campus and in the Bay Area. Workshop topics include professional team building, public speaking and storytelling.
